Small Dog Snowsuits

small black dog in snow

It is really important that our small dogs stay warm and dry in cold wet weather. They get colder faster than their larger brothers and even a slight drop in temperature can have a major impact on their little bodies. Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean our pups have to stay locked up all winter long though. Small dog snowsuits offer protection against cold rain, snow, and biting wind. Add some cozy layers underneath and your dog will be ready to tackle any winter wonderland. I’ve put together a short list of THE bestselling small dog snowsuits based on personal experience, recommendations from family and friends, TONS of research, and product reviews. I have only included waterproof snowsuits as they offer the best protection against rain or snow seeping through material and chilling your pet. I know you and your furry family will be happy with any of these choices! (This post contains affiliate links. When you buy via these links, I may earn a commission at no cost to you).

2. Brabtod Waterproof Dog Raincoat with Legs

Key Features

  • Lightweight waterproof polyester shell and soft cotton lining
  • Pet steps in and coat fastens around pet with zipper running the length of back
  • No leash hole
  • Elastic material for fitted design
  • Reflective zipper and piping
  • Minimum chest girth 17.5″
  • Coat weight 6.4 oz (S)

This raincoat offers maximum coverage for your pet, no worrying about muddy wet legs or belly. The zipper being on the back, rather than front of this jumpsuit helps make suiting up a little less awkward for those of us with squirmy doggies. I like the elastic gathered material for a snugger fit. This is an affordable full body raincoat. The raincoat is a little big, but this gives pet parents the opportunity to layer with a warm fleece or sweater and still fit comfortably.

3. Cosibell Waterproof Puppy Dog Raincoat with Hood

Key Features

  • Lightweight waterproof polyester shell with hood
  • Pet’s legs go in first then fastens with front snaps and adjustable drawstrings at hood and waist
  • Leash hole for harness
  • Reflective stripes
  • Minimum chest girth 12″
  • Coat weight 2.89 oz (S)

Designed for small dogs, this is cute, affordable and provides maximum coverage from rain and muddy bellies. I like the fitted leg holes designed to keep our pups even drier. The front snaps can be awkward if you have a squirmy dog, closure along the back is usually a little easier. Raincoat tends to run small, so keep that in mind when purchasing.

4. Hurtta Mudventure ECO Dog Overall

Key Features

  • Lightweight waterproof shell, no lining
  • Designed for layering but can be worn alone
  • Slips over pet’s head, pet steps in and coat fastens with a side zipper
  • Adjustable hood/neck gaiter (snood)
  • Leg cuff snaps for tighter fit
  • Made with recycled materials
  • Multiple points of adjustment for perfect fit
  • Leash hole for harness
  • Reflective prints and piping
  • Overall weight 6.38 oz (10S)

The Mudventure ECO Overall comes with the same great features as the Extreme minus the heat reflective lining. For pet parents that will be using the overalls in all different situations, the Mudventure Overalls might be the way to go. Your pet can wear alone in warmer conditions and completely layer for colder adventures.

5. Hurtta Rain Blocker ECO

Key Features

  • Lightweight waterproof shell, no lining
  • Pet steps in and coat fastens around pet with zipper running the length of suit
  • Adjustable hood/neck gaiter (snood)
  • Leg cuff snaps for tighter fit
  • Made with 100% recycled materials
  • Multiple points of adjustment for the perfect fit
  • Leash hole for harness
  • Extensive reflective piping
  • Coat weight 6.72 oz (10)

The Rain Blocker is like a full body raincoat for your dog, not quite as much hind leg coverage as the overalls, but still does a nice job protecting your pup from the elements. No liner so you are able to layer if needed. The majority of reviews were positive. Negative comments centered on odd sizing issues and a few complained that rain seeped through the coat.

Conclusion

Life doesn’t stop just because its cold outside. Our dogs still need to exercise, go to the bathroom, and get some fresh air and they rely on us to keep them warm, dry and comfortable during those outings. Small dog snowsuits help to keep your little guys warm and dry during cold weather and offer maximum protection against wind, snow, and rain. How do you keep your little dogs warm during the winter? Do you have a favorite snowsuit? If so, what do you like about it? I’d love to hear from your comments.
